Snowman gourds

Here is a little backstory on the gourd snowmen. I had seen a picture in a catalog of a cute little dressed up snowman and to me it looked like the shape of a bottle gourd. So I got the idea to get some old sweaters at the thrift store and dress up some gourd’s. The pictures that follow show the steps involved from the painting to the dressing up. It involved some gluing and sewing and a lot of time and some thick chunky blanket yarn but they turned out pretty darn cute!!!

Faux Putz house wreath.

I had these scraps of wood from a project I did a couple years ago. I had seen a wreath made from the vintage Putz paper houses and I got this idea…..
I glued them together side to side to make them a little larger….
Then using this idea from some little salt box houses I had bought way back before I started woodworking……
I painted thrm like this!!!

I purchased a 12” plain pine wreath and some various size bottle brush trees. I placed them on the wreath and hot glued in place along with some cotton strips I had saved out of vitamin bottles.  Then added a battery light string.
I always wanted a way to use this crochet runner as a valance so I put a piece of felt behind it and hung it with some cafe curtain clips. I also put a battery light string across the top of it.
Really brightened up a dark corner!!
Oh and if you want to hide a battery light pack in plain sight, cut a picture out of an old Christmas card and attach to the battery box!!

Happy holiday decorating 🌲
