High Moisture Corn Shelling

The last few days we have been working at a local dairy farm shelling high moisture corn for these curious gals to eat.

 

 

 

 

Very interesting how they clean the barn....

 

 

 

The first of the corn they ran threw this hammer mill to process it.

After they had as much processed that way that they needed they switched over to the roller mill, another way to process the corn. 

 

 

With Rick shelling, me running trucks back and forth and another guy unloading it's going pretty quickly. 

 

 

Hopefully there won't be any rain delays and we can finish there tomorrow for the first time there.  They have more to do in a few weeks. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Combine & Crochet

 

I came across this runner a few weeks ago while doing some cleaning.  I used to use this on the kitchen table.  Looks like it could use a washin' and a stretchin' but that's gonna have to wait a while because for the next few months everything will revolve around the real thing !!! 

Never a dull moment !!!

Not what you usually find sitting in your corn field !!!  For some reason this glider didn't make it back to where he was going but he was OK and no damage to the glider.  Ya never know what is going to happen next !!!  

 

It's Harvest Time........

 

......that's how the Luke Bryan song goes and it's very true. Rick started shelling corn yesterday and we each took a load to the mill this morning.

Frederick Fair Entries

Last week I entered my crocheted items in the fair.  Today we got a chance to go see how they did.

Tractor Show Weekend

It was a beautiful weekend and we attended two very nice antique tractor shows.  The first was in New Enterprise, PA called Southern Cove Reunion.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It was in such a pretty area.

 

 

After enjoying the show we took a nice drive threw the valley.  Nice farms all along the way. 

 

 

 

 

Then on Sunday we went to Two Top Ruritan show at Mercersburg, PA where Addie had a good view of the show.

 

 

It was all very enjoyable. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 



Mini Vacation

This past weekend we took a mini vacation.  We left Friday morning to go to the Nittany Antique Tractor show near State College, PA.

 

 

The show was huge !!!  It was also very hot that day, too. 

The food was great like at any tractor show so we watched the tractor parade while we ate. 

 

 

It is in a very pretty area  with beautiful mountains all around.

 

 

There were way too many vendors to look at everything. 

 

 

We watched the silage chopping demonstration for a while then we took a drive up threw the valley.  The Amish farmers were bundling their corn and hauling it in to the barns all up and down the road. 

 

 

Heading back towards home we came across a huge farm chopping corn the more modern way. 

It was a very nice get away but like all vacations way too short !!!
