Shutter Frames

I finally got around to a wood working project I wanted to make for over a year now.

 

 

They are "shutter" picture frames I made out of bead board.

 

I was looking  for shutters to hang on each side of a large shelf but couldn't find any that were only 30" long.  Then it occurred to me I had all this extra bead board left from a project from a few years ago and I could make them out of that.  Then I was thinking about how to decorate the shutters and thought about hanging pictures on them.  I ended up cutting out the picture area and then hot gluing acrylic frames on the back to hold the pictures.  It worked out really well to do that and I only have the price of the frames in the project. I painted them before gluing in the frames and ran a sander over the paint to "age" it some. I am pretty please with how they turned out. 

Climbing Trellis Scarf

I'm also happy to have Barb model it for me, she did a great job!!

 

It is a filet pattern the first few lines of instructions are written out then the rest is worked from a graph.

John Deere Combine Card

 

Couldn't let Rick's birthday go by without making him a crochet card, too. 

It wouldn't be winter without.....

A Winter Snowbuddy!!!

 

 

He's made from the same pattern as the stacked pumpkins from last fall

 

 

He's got a light string inside, too

 

He's got a pipe....



and little short arms....

and a snowflake on his hat!! 

Perfect winter decoration!!

Pennsylvania Farm Show

We made our yearly trip to the Pennsylvania Farm Show yesterday. 

 

 

The building is so pretty....

 

 

Someone does a great job on the butter sculpture

 

 

They have the nicest display of a farm in the one building.

 

This year they had an old combine "cutting" beans...

 

and a new one "shelling" corn

 

They actually have growing plants in the display!!

 

and make it look just like they are harvesting them. 

 

This old combine was from Gladhill's in Frederick. 

 

They have plants in all growing stages.

 

They even had the stubble just like a field would have. 

 

 

Then it was time for day dreaming.....

 

 

Rick checked out the price sticker on this tractor.....

 

 

Don't think it's going to be in the budget anytime soon..... Come on Lottery!!!

 

There wasn't much ice on the river this year.  Mostly in the middle of the river.

Another Crochet Card

 

Since I never got around to making  Barb a crochet birthday card of her two favorite Boxers I did it for Christmas.  She was very tickled with her card!!!
