Double Duty Pot Holder

The August 2012 issue of Crochet World hit the web today.  My over sized potholder is one of the patterns in this month.  I made it very large to set hot casserole dishes on.  It is reversible, too.  The other side is worked in the same pattern only in sold green.  It was worked in Royale size 3 crochet thread in sage and coffee colors with a size E/4 crochet hook. It measures 9" x 16" and uses front and back post stitches to give it some thickness.

If you want to see a better picture of it click on the Crochet World link above.  They named it the "Double Duty Pot Holder".  Very fitting !!

Big Storm

Last night we had a big storm roll threw about 8 pm.

Lots of limbs down......

......then this one decided to hang on the power line in to our place.  Rick was able to knock it off this morning with a special pole for electric that my Dad had without too much trouble.  All cleaned up.....till the next one rolls in which they are calling for every day this week !!!

Happy Memorial Day

This is one of my original designs from last year.  Still can't decide if it needs a border or not.

I liked the star within the motif.  It was worked in size 10 thread with a size 5 hook.

Kitty Kats

I've made a few items for my sister who loves cats.  This one I put together from a couple of patterns I saw on the Internet one time that gave me the idea. It's been a few years I can't remember now where I found them.

This pattern is called Pretty Kitties.  It was very quick and easy to make and came from Annie's Favorite Crochet Magazine, June 2005 issue. The designer is Judy Jagel and it is a  very cute doily !!

Happy Mother's Day

What a pretty flag my Mom gave me for the occasion.

Didn't really have any crochet special for Mother's Day but what Mom or anyone for that matter doesn't like pretty flowers......

these purple ones are so pretty right now !!

We dug them up along a road in Pennsylvania growing wild about 5 years ago. They re-seed themselves very nicely every year.

My little collection of tractor garden ornaments

The pansies are still going strong, too !!

Happy Mom's Day !!

Planting Soybeans

Rick was out bright and early this morning and planted soybeans in the field in front of the house before being called to haul fertilizer.  I did 2 more fields today in between getting the grass mowed.

Filling up the drill

The corn that was planted 2 weeks ago is coming up nicely.

Today we filled up the drill with soybeans

The first of the soybeans were planted last Saturday by a friend with a splitter.  Going to experiment this year to see how they do planted with a splitter and some planted with the drill.  Lets just hope we get enough rain this summer to make this a good experiment !!
