Tractor Fabric Edgings

This is not the project I was hinting at yesterday, that one is very time consuming with the busy season right now this is about another project. I found all this really neat tractor fabric online at Tractorfabric.com.  Got me thinking I had to order some of each and find a project for it...

I had added some edgings to some tea towels with tractor themes in the past and also when I enter in the Maryland State fair they want an unattached 24" edging but the Great Frederick Fair wants a project with an edging.  Tea towels aren't 24" so I thought I could make up a centerpiece of fabric to add the 24" edging to after the state fair for the Frederick fair.

I have this IH edging ready to add to fabric but this one below is already completed.

I am pretty pleased with it but I think I'm going to continue the crochet shells on the side of the fabric to make it have a more complete look.  The possibilities are endless with this project!! Such beautiful fabrics to choose from, too!!

Honeycomb Hot Pad

Last fall I made this hot pad to enter in the Great Frederick Fair

It is a reversible hot pad.

It did pretty well at the fair!!

So I submitted the design to Crochet World and they bought it. They wanted it done in Red and White so they sent me the threads to make it for them.

Yesterday I got a package back in the mail with my hot pad in it and two complimentary copies of Crochet World Magazine.

This is the picture they have of it in the new August issue all decked out!!

It looks really nice they way they displayed it.
Thank you Crochet World!!

Fabric Purses

I've made a few crochet purses and a couple of fabric ones with quilted fabrics. I got to thinking the other week about a technique we did in high school sewing strips of fabric onto quilt batting and backing and thought it would make a neat purse. Then I remembered a vest I had made several years ago that never fit quite right but I loved the colors. So I decided to make the vest into a purse.  I thought this can't take long I'll whip one up in an hour or so.... ha!!!  Ended up taking the better part of a day!!  Seemed like every stitch I put into it I ended up ripping out.  Finally about 6 hours later I had it finished!!

I love how it turned out I just can't get the picture to turn!!  Oh well....
So I thought I'd make myself a John Deere fabric purse using the same technique with less strips. I set aside the whole day because I know how things go.....

Well, this one I had together in about 2 1/2 hours!!

I guess it just goes to show you that if you think you are going to do something quick it's going to take longer than you think and if you think something is going to take forever it falls right into place!!  Some days are just better than others :)

Hail of a storm!!!!

Ha, pun intended.....

The storm only lasted a few minutes but dumped 2 tenths of an inch of rain and hail

There were white out conditions for a few minutes.

It was bouncing off the truck hood!!

Water was running everywhere...

Rick scooped up a handful of the pea size hail.

It shredded the leaves on the corn.

and the flowers...

and knocked down a tree limb.

It went as fast as it came.  Thank goodness it didn't last any longer!!

Sewing Basket

Since I had to do some sewing on the latest crochet pattern.....

it looked like a good time to give my sewing basket a much needed clean out!!

Much better but now I'll never be able to find anything!!!
