Farm Scene Edgings

I recently added these patterns for sale on Etsy, Ravelry and Craftsy.com.  They are filet crochet edgings for centerpieces.  I found these beautiful tractor fabrics at Tractorfabric.com if you are interested in purchasing the fabric from them.  The barn wood fabric came from Hobby Lobby and the John Deere fabric from Ebay.  Lots of beautiful fabrics out there......so many ideas and so little time....... Happy Crocheting!!

Stretch and Burn....

This title could be a little misleading...it's not related to exercise!!!! I was stretching and starching some crocheted edgings the other day so I thought I'd show some photos of how I do this...

first I put down some wax paper it keeps the lines on the cardboard fabric cutting board from bleeding thru when the starch is sprayed on.

Then I stretch them and pin them as tightly as I can

After stretching I spray them with heavy spray starch then run an iron over them on the cotton setting.....

And here is what happens when you set the iron in a different spot than you are used to and back up and put your arm against the HOT IRON ON COTTON SETTING!!!!  This was over a  month ago and it's much better now but you can bet I'll be watching where the iron is sitting for sure form now on!!!   and after all these years doing the exact same thing.... it was just turned a little bit different than usual..... live and learn....!!!!!

Middletown Community Show

Friday and Saturday was the Middletown Community Show.  It was fun to help taking in entries this year in the Fruits and Miscellaneous produce category and helping out when the judging of that class was happening.  Interesting to see all the behind the scenes action!!  I thought since I was going I might as well take some entries of my own.....
The snowman candle holder was in the woodworking category and didn't win anything.....

The lighted wreath was in the Holiday Door Decoration class....

The lighted snowman was in the Christmas Decoration class....

My pillow of course was in the pillow class......

Big surprise with the jewelry.  It was entered in the jewelry class of the Arts and Crafts division, not in a crochet competition, and got the Grand Champion!!!!  What a surprise!!!!

My Diamond Filet scarf was in the crochet garment class....

The lighted pumpkin was in the fall decorations category...

John Deere gourd was in the Holiday decorations class...

Glass etched salt & peppers were in a miscellaneous class and didn't win a prize....
Door decoration class....

 Doily class....
...and last but not least my purse was in the Any other Crochet Item class...

All did very well I thought and it was a nice weekend.  I guess all the competitions are over  until next July so better get busy on my list of things I want to make!!
