Corn

Took a gator ride this afternoon to check on the corn.

Looks like it could use a little water....

Kinda reminds me of the line from the Tim McGraw song "Watch my corn pop up in rows"

Gotta love Cheese Boxes.....

...they are inexpensive, easy to stain or paint, and hold oodles of craft supplies!!

I get them at our local butcher shop for $2 each then stain them.

They don't take up a lot of space but you can sure pack a lot of in them!!

Productive couple of days.....

It's been a productive week around here and a productive couple of days...

Yesterday I sowed 70 acres of soybeans....

It was a picture perfect day with the pretty sky and mountains...

This this morning I managed to finally get the green beans, squash and cucumbers in the ground. Looks more like some animal was digging in this straw matt that was left over from last year instead of the holes I made to put the seeds in and the way stuff usually ends up getting ate off it was probably a waste of time...

Cleaned up the greenhouse....

Thinned some petunia seedlings...

...and moved around some volunteer mums that have popped up to a better location...

Then noticed the birds helping themselves to the strawberries so I thought I'd better get them while they were still there to get!!

They made for a great lunch!!

Now that the outside stuff is caught up on for the day and it's getting hot out time for inside stuff.
Gotta finish this crocheted tractor runner edging and then get out the sewing machine to sew the fabric center for the two edgings to make it into a table runner with some neat tractor fabric I found online, sew a lining for a crocheted bag and some new porch curtains..... Plenty to do inside and out!!

Fairy Garden Farm

You know those little fairy gardens that are so popular now.....

Got to thinking how about  a farm one!!

So I gathered up some things around here, made the little shed and round bales, purchased a few more items...

.....and Charlie helped put it all together yesterday.  He enjoyed playing with it more than anything but then again that's more what it is for!!

Winter Warming Shells Accessories

It's cold and rainy and damp and I know all that is going to change but I just put this pattern pack out there in my Etsy, Ravelry and Craftsy.com stores so you can get a head start on fall projects. (or even Christmas....)

It is a pattern pack with 5 designs in it.

It's for a headwarmer/headband, cowl, fringed scarf, keyhole scarf and fingerless mitts.
They are all quick and easy to make and the strips are joined on the go and angled on each end.

The headband, cowl and fingerless mitts all have buttons for decoration on them the headband and cowl they do open and close but it's not necessary to open and close them to wear, just pull over your head.

The pieces are 4" wide and the fringed scarf is 53" without the fringe, keyhole scarf is 42 1/2", headband and cowl 24" & 27" and the mitts are 4" laying flat and taper on the bottom to the outside of the wrist.

The yarn used in these pictures is Paton Classic Wool DK Superwash but they could also be made in thinner yarns and used in the summer as well.

If you are interested in the pattern pack it sells for $5.50 and is available at the store links above.

Chevron Purse

Recently added to the pattern sales in my Etsy, Ravelry and Craftsy.com stores is the pattern for this Chevron purse.

It is worked in size 3 crochet threads and simply lined with a magnet clasp.

From the top of the handles to the bottom of the purse it measures 18" and it 13 1/2" across the top and 10 1/2" across the bottom.
The gusset is 2" and the handles are 1 1/2" wide.

It is worked in all double crochets and works up pretty quickly.
Check out the links above to the sites if you are interested in trying this pattern.

Beautiful weather

Finally some beautiful days after weeks of rain, fog and drizzle.  We needed the rain, tho it was getting really dry but now it's time to get some outside work done before the next rain. Got some turbo tilling in this week and some soybeans in the ground. The corn is enjoying the sunshine, too. So are the pretty flowers and the pretty birds that were outside the kitchen window this morning. It was a colorful bird morning around here just before that there was a red headed woodpecker whittling away at the old tree stump and a little blue bird sitting on the same hooks that flew away too quick for a picture.

Happy Mother's Day

Wow it's been a long time since I've put any news on here but just wanted to wish all the special people out there a Happy Mother's Day!!

It's been very busy lately and I have been crocheting as well but nothing I am able to post about for a few months yet.  Gotta keep some secrets until some magazines are on the stands.... :)
