Crochet 1-2-3

Thank you Crochet 1-2-3 for my very first cover !!!  So surprised to see my scarves on the front!!  Last summer when they asked me to make this design it just wasn't working in the yarn they sent me so they sent 2 other colors and told me to choose the one I liked best.  I couldn't decide so I made one in each since they are so quick and easy to make.  I sent them both to let them decide and I was even more surprised to see they used them both together!!  They look awesome together.  Great people to work with just finished another project for an issue later this year for Crochet 1-2-3 also so more on that one later.......

Triple Surprise Tuesday

I stopped by JoAnn Fabrics to pick up some fabric stiffener for the snowmen and happened to see this as I passed by the racks....

There was only one on the rack so I hope that's a good sign they are selling!!
Then that afternoon the UPS truck dropped off a package returning a scarf I had submitted to Crochet! magazine a while back with 2 copies of their latest news stand issue "Crochet In A Snap" by Crochet! magazine.
This is my scarf in the issue which they named "Watercolor Lace". I love the colors in this thread, it's Aunt Lydia's size 3 Monet.  It s very easy and quick to make, too.

Further looking threw the magazine I noticed they included my "Study In Black and White" jewelry that was in Crochet World magazine a few years back.

It was all a very pleasant surprise!!  I am not sure when this issue will be on the stands for purchase so keep an eye out for it if you are interested.  There are 50+ projects in the issue and all are very beautiful and fun to make patterns.

Frosty Friend

During Christmas I saw a snowman made of fabric which popped a new design in my head and here is the beginning of that idea...
The body was made using Styrofoam balls as the forms.  The body was worked in 2 halves then they were stiffened with fabric stiffener and glued together with fabric glue.  Same for the head.
The fabric one I had seen had these snowballs over it's head so I wanted mine to have them, too....

I also added a pipe and arms.  Not loving this look with a crocheted snowman....didn't turn out like the fabric one I saw.  The crocheted balls were just a bit too heavy for this project I think.  So I'm thinking of taking the snowballs off and making them into ornaments.

I just love the more primitive looking things so I had to try one in Ecru.  I really like it in this color, too.  Then another idea popped in to my head so I had to try that, too....

On this one I turned the balls on their sides when I formed them so the seam is around the side instead of the middle.  That makes the design of the shells in the pattern stand out more but I didn't stop there....

I just had to add lights to it !!  There is a little hole in the back that the tiny battery lights are inserted threw then I used a wire bent on the end to pull them up threw the "neck" and into the head and hat !!  Now this design seems complete to me !!  It didn't need all that other stuff.  Haven't been able to pick a favorite color for the scarf and hat band or the body for that matter but I do love this pattern!!  It's a keeper :)
